Hotshot Dispatch

Hotshot Dispatch Services for Gooseneck and Flatbed Owner-Operators

Hotshot freight is not smaller trucking. It is faster trucking on a rig with a hard weight ceiling. MetaSys dispatchers check payload and dimensions before they book, chase the reload while you are still moving, and handle the permits and broker paperwork behind it.

The problem

Where a hotshot week quietly loses money.

Loads booked over your payload

A 12,000 pound crate on a rig rated for less is a canceled load and a burned broker contact. Weight has to be checked before the rate confirmation, not at a scale house.

Deadhead that eats the premium

Hotshot pays on the loaded leg and nothing on the empty one. A 300 mile run that starts with a 200 mile deadhead is a bad week wearing a good rate.

Cargo limits that do not match the shipper

Equipment and energy shippers routinely ask for cargo coverage above a standard certificate. You find out after you have already turned down other freight.

Permits discovered at the state line

Over 8 feet 6 inches wide needs a permit in every state on the route. Nobody volunteers that at booking, and a curfew or a restricted bridge costs you the delivery window.

Jobsites that are not ready for you

Gate hours, site orientation, an escort who never shows. Detention is common on hotshot freight and it is almost never billed, because nobody documented the arrival.

Competing with van freight on a public board

A 6,000 pound partial sits on the same board as everything else. The freight worth running moves off expedite desks and dealer contacts, not off a public posting.

What we haul

What actually rides on a hotshot deck.

Oilfield and energy parts

Wellhead components, valves, pipe joints, pump parts, and skids moving between yards, machine shops, and active locations. Volume tracks field activity, not the calendar.

Permian, Eagle Ford, Bakken

Compact equipment and attachments

Skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, buckets, and forks moving between dealers, rental yards, and jobsites. Ramps, chains, and a deck that fits the machine matter more than mileage.

Dealer and rental yard moves

Construction materials

Bundled lumber, rebar, trusses, forms, and scaffold sections. Loads that would waste most of a 53 foot trailer and are needed on site before the crew shows up.

Tarped, chained, jobsite delivery

Machine-down replacement parts

A plant with a stopped line pays for hours, not miles. These loads are booked, loaded, and rolling the same day, and the rate reflects the downtime on the other end.

Same-day pickup

Agricultural equipment

Tractors, implements, and attachments moving between farms, dealers, and auction yards. Demand concentrates hard around planting and harvest, then thins out in between.

Seasonal, spring and fall

Expedited partials

Freight that missed a truck, freight that broke down with the truck, and freight a customer will not wait on. Time is the only thing being priced, which is where hotshot earns its name.

How we dispatch it

Deck space is not the constraint. Weight is.

Payload before price

Your truck rating, trailer rating, and empty weight sit on file. Every load is checked against them before a rate confirmation is signed.

Non-CDL and Class A booked differently

A combination rated under 26,001 pounds keeps you out of Class A territory and out of an entire tier of freight. We book to the rig you actually have, not the one the load board assumes.

Cargo coverage matched to the shipper

Equipment and energy shippers often require more cargo coverage than a standard certificate carries. We confirm the requirement at booking, not at the gate.

Oversize sorted before dispatch

Over 8 feet 6 inches wide or 13 feet 6 inches tall means a permit in every state on the route. We pull them and route around curfews and restricted bridges.

Securement specified with the load

Chains, binders, straps, edge protection, and tarps are worked out when the load is booked. You are not solving securement in a customer yard with a crew waiting.

Detention and TONU documented

Arrival times, gate delays, and dry runs are logged as they happen and billed after. On short hauls those charges are a real share of the week.

This is the same desk that runs our truck dispatch service, working DAT One, Truckstop.com, and a direct broker network. Hotshot just has a shorter list of loads that will physically fit. Freight that is too heavy for a gooseneck but too small to justify a 53 foot trailer usually belongs on a straight truck, which our box truck dispatch desk runs.

Where we run

Hotshot freight is regional freight.

Permian Basin and West Texas

Midland, Odessa, Hobbs, and Carlsbad. Short urgent runs between yards, machine shops, and active locations. Gate passes and site orientation decide whether you get unloaded or turned around.

Texas Triangle and I-35

Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, then north into Oklahoma. Dense enough that the next load is often within an hour of the last delivery, which is what makes the math work on a small deck.

Southeast construction belt

I-20, I-75, and I-85 through Atlanta, Birmingham, Charlotte, and Nashville. Materials and compact equipment, heaviest from spring through fall and quiet through the holidays.

Northern Plains and Bakken

Williston, Dickinson, and into eastern Montana. Long empty stretches in every direction, so the return leg has to be planned before the outbound is ever accepted.

Onboarding

From authority to first load in 48 hours.

01
10 minutes

Send authority and rig specs

MC number, USDOT number, certificate of insurance, and W-9. Then the part most dispatch services skip: truck class, trailer type, deck length, and your combined weight rating.

02
24 hours

Carrier packets and cargo check

We set you up across the broker network and confirm your cargo limit against the freight you want to run. If a shipper class needs more coverage, you know before you are chasing it.

03
48 hours

First load matched to the rig

Weight checked, dimensions checked, permits identified, and priced against the deadhead it takes to get there. Nothing is booked that your rating cannot carry.

04
Ongoing

Deadhead reviewed every week

We look at loaded miles against total miles, not gross revenue alone. Lanes that keep coming up empty get dropped and replaced.

Services

A hotshot rig needs more than a load.

Full truck dispatch

Hotshot is one desk inside our dispatch operation. Same dispatchers, same broker network, same 7 day coverage across dry van, reefer, flatbed, and power only.

Truck dispatch services

Brokerage access

MetaSys operates as a broker agent under contract with licensed US brokerages. That is how a single hotshot rig reaches freight normally reserved for carriers with volume behind them.

Brokerage access

Freight factoring

Hotshot invoices are small and frequent, and a truck payment does not wait on 30 day terms. MetaSys is an authorized partner of Riviera Finance, OTR Solutions, and RTS Financial.

Freight factoring

Dispatch is the freight side of a larger company. MetaSys builds and operates intelligent systems outside trucking too, so an owner growing past one rig can put the back office on AI and intelligent automation rather than another spreadsheet.
